FAQs

Accessing Services

How can I or someone I know set up an appointment for professional clothing?

There are 2 ways you can set up an appointment for The Wardrobe’s dressing services:

  1. Through a Referral Partner:
If you are attending a job training program, receiving TANF, or working with another nonprofit, please check with your program or case manager to see if you qualify for a referral to receive free clothing. Check here to see a list of all partners
  2. Open Access: If you are looking for a low-cost interview outfit & do not qualify for a complementary referral through a partner program, our Open Access program is for you! See here for more information

I work for a nonprofit & want to refer clients. How can I do that?

Become a Referral Partner
Referral partnership gives you:

  • Access to all The Wardrobe’s programs
  • Appointments scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of request
  • Refer up to 100 clients, Monday-Saturday
  • Access to post-appointment discounts and benefits
  • Priority invitations to our internship program and educational programming

To make an appointment as a Referral Partner, call 215-568-6693 x10

Check here to see if your organization is already a Referral Partner.

Donating Clothing

What items are acceptable to donate?

Here is a list of items we are looking for.

When & how can I donate clothing?

It’s easy! Bundle up your donations (neatly in bags or taped boxes; no hangers, please), bring them to one of our drop-off locations, get a tax receipt here (link), & you’re done. Your donations are greatly appreciated, thank you! Donation forms are available online here.

What are the hours for donating clothing?

We accept donations at our Philadelphia and Lansdowne stores whenever we are open.

Donations are accepted in Bucks County by appointment only. Please call 215-568-6693 x22.

You may also drop off donations at our Main Line Drive: Saint George’s Episcopal Church, 1 West Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003

  • Second Tuesday of the month, 6pm-7:30pm
  • Curbside assistance available

For additional county locations, click here.

Is there parking? (Philadelphia)

In Philadelphia: There is a large (5-6 car length) loading zone directly adjacent to our building on the left-hand side of 19th Street just after the light @ Spring Garden Street where you may park for 30 minutes – make sure to be between the loading zone signs! Otherwise there is usually free 2-hour or metered parking within a 2-block radius of the store.

In Lansdowne: We have access to the parking lot directly past the Lansdowne store on Marshall Rd, to the right, or metered parking in front of the store.

Do you pick up donations?

Sorry, but we do not have this capability. If you do not have a car, we recommend using a service (such as Lyft or Uber), or a courier that could pick up & drop off your items.

Do the items have to be in paper bags?

For ease of transport, we ask that items are neatly bundled in bags or taped boxes. Shopping bags, reusable tote bags, or taped boxes are preferred. Not loose, please – if you cannot carry it, we cannot carry it. No hangers please.

Do you take housewares & electronics? Luggage?

We do not accept donations of electronics, housewares, furniture, etc. Very few household items donated are usable for us. Please keep in mind that our space is limited and disposal is not easy.

Do you take office supplies?

Yes! Anything that can keep our office running smoothly is greatly appreciated.

Examples: Post-It notes, staples, tape, pens, copy paper, scissors, etc.

Do you take menswear?

Yes! The Wardrobe accepts professional, casual, and formal clothing for all identities.

How do I get a tax receipt? How do I value my items?

Tax deductible donation forms are available online or at each location.

What are the prices and do you provide receipts?
